Sheriff David Fox started with the RCSD in 2004, being assigned to the support services division. He attended the 82nd Full-Time Basic Academy for Police Professionals in 2007.

Sheriff Fox is also a Field Training Officer.

Sheriff Fox was assigned to a County wide grant funded position. As part of this position, he worked with the communities we patrol to gather intelligence about crime, communicate with citizens of our communities about their concerns and needs and to assist our patrol deputies as needed with investigations.

David J. Fox was appointed as Sheriff on March 18, 2020.

On 4/25/14 members of the Rutland County Sheriff Dept broke up an under age drinking party at the Proctor Falls in Procter. Several under age drinking tickets were issued.
