Captain Johnathan (J.J.) Bixby began with the Ludlow Police Department in 1992 as a Special Officer.

Captain Bixby also held the ranks of patrolman, Corporal and Sex Crimes Investigator with the Brandon Police Department where he began April 1994.

In August 1994, Captain Bixby attended the 59th Basic Academy for Police Professionals and from 1996 through 2002 was a Patrol Procedures Instructor for all Full-Time Basic Training classes.

Captain Bixby’s certifications include: Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer (FTO), School Resource Office (SRO) Death Scene Investigator, Advanced Accident Investigation, Preliminary Breath Test Instrument Technician, Patrol Supervisor and also holds certs in Radar, LIDAD and DUI

Captain Bixby was also an active member of the Vermont Army National Guard (23 years of service), to include serving a combat tours in Iraq in (2004-2006), and returning to the RCSD in 2007.

Captain Bixby was again called to active duty in early 2010, serving a combat tour in Afghanistan, and returned home in 2011. We are proud to have Captain Bixby serve our Country, while also serving our communities.

Captain Bixby currently holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Champlain College, Burlington, VT
