INCIDENT: 24RUC002089
DATE: July 21st 2024 at 0032 hours
LOCATION: Route 4a / Birdseye Road - Castleton, VT
ARRESTING OFFICER: Corporal Gregory Ricketts - Rutland County Sheriff's Department
DEFENDANT: Christopher S. Carvey
AGE: 48
CITY & STATE OF RESIDENCE: Poultney, VT
CHARGES: Ignition Interlock Restricted Driver’s License - Title 23 VSA 1213g
DESCRIPTION: On the above date and time, Corporal Ricketts observed a vehicle commit a moving violation on Route 4a in the Town of West Rutland. As a result, a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the operator was identified as Christopher S. Carvey of Poultney, VT. A records check of Carvey revealed that he did not posses a valid driver's license and that his privilege to operate a motor vehicle required the use of an ignition interlock device for a previous conviction of DUI #3. Carvey's vehicle was not equipped with the device and had no registration or insurance and displayed license plates not assigned.
Carvey was placed under arrest and was transported to the Castleton Police Department for processing. Carvey was later released on a citation to appear at the Rutland Superior Court - Criminal Division on September 30th 2024 at 1000 hours to answer to the above charge.
In addition, Carvey's vehicle was towed from the scene by R & D Automotive and Carvey will be issued civil violations for No registration, No insurance, Displaying plates not assigned, Operating without a valid driver's license, Operating while under civil suspension and Roadways laned for travel, totaling in fines of $1,117.00
